Good point; supports the mutagen theory. However, why did Charlie sprout a tentacle from his eye when he drank the goo straight? Why did he impregnate Shaw with a lovecraftian squid baby? If the critter had been human-like, like the xenomorph in Alien then that would jive with everything else, but squids... not so much. That really makes me wonder if it is meant to be a mutagen but the writers decided to make Shaw birth a moar different alien for the sake of being moar different than Alien, plot coherence-be-damned.
The mutagen could have affected bacteria or parasites inside him for the tentacle thing, as well as starting to re-write his DNA--if it was rewriting his DNA. It's possible the mutagen--or some variant thereof was in his semen and got up in her business to make an alien squid baby. Or, for all I know a mutated bacteria thing could have been Squid Daddy.
Hrm. You know, as much as I dislike the movie, it certainly gets people talking.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

I don't even dislike the movie. I thought a lot of it was really, really well made. There's just a truckload of stupidity which kinda distracts from how pretty and well made it is. It is by no means a horrible movie. I enjoyed it. But it still lost me in many places to the point that I had to do mental acrobatics to justify behavior, so despite my lack of hate for it, it still totally fits in this thread.

Anyway, this seems a good place for a picture.

I don't necessarily believe that's exactly how it worked out, but meh. It amused me.

That's a good picture. This is definitely a movie and discussion that is assisted by visual aids.

Here's another one.
While I don't agree that David's penchant for poking things was overdone (he had valid reasons for behaving the way he did), the gif is pretty funny.

(haven't seen the movie) that reminds me of Elan from OotS. ...and my friend.

...and another friend, who, in high school, had the automatic reaction of "I lick it" to everything a DM might describe. I'm sad I never ran anything and covered an important quest item in ingestible poison.

My players did get high with some elves last night, though.

Still watching Angel. Apparently sleeping with Lindsey's crush makes him go full redneck. That or feels that a suit and dress shoes aren't proper "drive a rust coloured pickup truck and beat the vampire who fucked my girl" clothes. And hell, when I look at it that way, I'm starting to understand.

Lindsey's not a vamp, just an unfortunately named lawyer.

This is true, I just saw that episode. Kind of a shame it wound up with him being put on a bus, but apparently he comes back. And I think I'd get along with Lorne pretty well, thinking about his comment that it's hard to take part in his people's honor joust when you can see both sides and I keep looking at all this grudge drama and thinking "oh for fucks sake, get over it, you two" in both Buffy and Angel.

I'm not sure what type of trap joke you mean. If it's the Crossdresser/trans* type, I don't think that was the intent at all.

So I just found yet another reason the people at WotC are idiots. The penalty on Disguise to disguise yourself as another race is a flat -2. The penalty for changing height or weight from 11-25% is -25, and 26-50% is -50.

That means that it is easier for Zorak from Space Ghost to disguise himself as a really thin human, than for Robin to disguise himself as Bruce Wayne with leg extensions and some padding. That's fucking absurd unless you're disguising Zorak as the Professor from Futurama.

I'm not sure, Zorak obviously rocks some epic disguise skills:

Isn't he referring to the "booby trap" line though ?

It would seem so, but I think that might be calling her a whore, or something more akin to this:
Urban dictionary, Boobie Trap wrote:"when a man gets caught up with a woman who is not good for him for some reason, but cannot escape her because of her abnormally sexy body."

That's definitely not referring to the fun confusing gender identity kind of trap. And it's probably not deriving its use from urban dictionary either, because who even pays attention to that anymore, honestly? So full of crap. It's probably just a plain old reference to what's-her-face's boobs.

... I can't help but feel like it is never acceptable to say "what's-her-face's boobs". Presumably, if you are talking about someone's boobs at all, you can at least be polite enough to get their name.

Yeah, gender confusion trap jokes seem just bit too controversial for Burlew.

Strikes me as more of a joke on Honey Trap. Or maybe the fact that Sabine IS a trap all by herself.

It's clearly the "women who is bad for him" thing. Even if he didn't get it from Urban Dictionary, I'm pretty sure Urban Dictionary's entry for "two girls one cup" is correct, because urban dictionary is often right about single uncontroversial things, and this is clearly one of them.

Yeah, and based on the context of that specific comic, I wouldn't have jumped there. It was that combined with other ones where she specifically mentions being a shape shifter and strongly implies that she's shifted in to male forms with Nale (when he was questioning his sexuality), that made me think that.

Still, it could be a coincidence. To get to that point, I need to assume he's referencing a strip from three or four years ago.

So I've been watching Dakara Boku wa H ga Dekinai, an anime about a shinigami/grim reaper who came to this world in search of a special specimen with limitless energy to tap, and while on the search she encounters "The Shounen Anime Guy*", who gains his energy from being a perv. She starts out abusive and tsundere and presumably softens towards him over time, and more shinigami get added to it, first fighting against them and then joining (while still trying to win him over in a harem situation), leading to HILARIOUS HIJINKS! Oh, and 5 episodes in she still hasn't figured out that he's the special specimen because although his basic energy rating isn't that good, he has a turnover of about 30 seconds after being drained, as opposed to "a few days".

Anyway, it looked like nothing special - I have basically described any number of shows, more or less. But hey, naked boobs, and short fights with flashy effects.

But the fifth episode really did let me down. He has his own actual energy power blast thing, so he can SAVE THE DAY on his own, just by caring enough about her - to be the KNIGHT IN ERO ARMOUR and protect her. Because apparently death gods aren't more powerful and awesome than humans, males are just more powerful and awesome than females. It's bad enough all the anime has to have males in them at all, but can't they at least just sit in the sidelines for these ones? Rosario to Vampire (anime only) and Freezing (so far) both showed that respect.

*You may have seen him in such things as Rosario to Vampire, Freezing and such. He's the generic male that has no real special abilities of his own and isn't that interesting, but he enables the power of the female he's attached to, making him relevant, and gets surrounded by girls in a harem-like situation leading to HILARIOUS HIJINKS! Basically he's there for male viewers to project themselves onto, imagining themselves in his situation.

"The Shounen Anime Guy" is basically why I've been considering stopping reading Menage a 3. I don't identify with or project on to those guys, I just want them to die a horrible, painful death.

I lost interest in Menage a 3 a long time ago. The wish-fulfillment sexual conquests of the nerdy author-insert girl were simply too over the top. I felt like I was watching the author masturbate.
